I’ll be honest — I’ve been thinking a lot lately about what retirement really looks like. Not just the financial side (though, of course, that’s always in the back of my mind), but the bigger picture: **Who will I be when I’m no longer defined by my work? What will my days look like? How will I find purpose and connection?**
These aren’t questions a calculator can answer.
At SFS, we’ve always taken pride in helping people prepare financially for retirement — that’s our foundation. But as I’ve started to reflect on my own journey, I’ve realized something: retirement readiness is about so much more than numbers. It’s about identity, health, relationships, lifestyle, and legacy.
That’s why, starting in 2026, we’ll be introducing a new initiative at SFS called Retirement Readiness: Beyond the Numbers. It’s a program designed to help our clients prepare not just financially, but mentally and emotionally for this major life transition.
Here’s what you can expect:
*Quarterly topics and workshops that dive into areas like identity and purpose, health and well-being, relationships and community, and daily lifestyle.
* Tools and resources like a lifestyle self-assessment, reflection workbooks, and guides to help you start imagining (and shaping) your next chapter.
* Community and conversation — because sometimes the best insights come from hearing how others have navigated this transition.
I’ll admit, even as someone who’s been in the retirement planning world for years, I’ve found it eye-opening to think about my own readiness “beyond the numbers.” It’s one thing to know your portfolio is in order — it’s another to know what will bring you joy and purpose when the office doors close behind you for the last time.
So consider this your invitation: walk this journey with us. Reflect on your own hopes, fears, and dreams for retirement. And in 2026, join us as we bring this program to life in a way that will help you (and me!) prepare not just financially, but fully, for what’s ahead. (and No - I AM NOT retiring anytime soon ... just dreaming and planning).
Because retirement isn’t an ending — it’s a beginning. And at SFS, we want to help you step into it with confidence, clarity, and excitement.
